Education & Advocacy
In addition to practical, on-the-ground water projects, we strive to raise awareness about the global water crisis through education and advocacy projects.
Million Voice Choir
In 2004, "WE RISE" was chosen by the UN as the New Human World Anthem. This rousing call for peace is an invitation for everyone to see and feel the magnitude of a simple action as its effects ripple outward.
The Million Voice Choir dissolves political, religious, social and cultural boundaries by bridging together a variety of groups who would not normally find themselves doing anything together. In its first formal year, the Million Voice Choir united peaceful voices from over 100 cities in over 60 countries.
"WE RISE" continues to unite and inspire people around the world. This ongoing International Peace Songfest uses the power of music to mobilize action toward a world where all people have sustainable access to clean water.
Youth Outreach
ASD believes youth education is critical to bridging gaps in understanding and resources, so we strive to create fun, interactive events that ignite important insights about water. For example, in partnership with the Girl Scouts, ASD is hosting a "Women and Girls Walk for Water" event that teaches local girls about the challenges women and girls face every day when having to fetch water for their families. American Girl Scouts will carry water around two walking paths dotted with educational stations where girls will discover different technologies and solutions to solve various water problems.
